Marineda shopping center: 470 linear meters of smoke control barriers
Today we’re sharing one of our most significant projects: the expansion of the Marineda Shopping Center, through the transformation of the former El Corte Inglés space.
This is a major undertaking due to its scale, its technical complexity, and its location in one of Spain’s largest retail spaces. This project reinforces Tecnitex’s position as a specialist in smoke control and fire protection solutions for large-scale infrastructure.
Our involvement began in the initial project phases, collaborating with the architecture firm L35 on the definition of the SCTEH (Smoke Control and Evacuation System), through its final implementation on-site with the construction company.
Where did we add value?
Our involvement began in the design phase, with the development of the technical specifications, plans, and budgets for the smoke control system. The objective was clear: to guarantee a safe, efficient solution that is perfectly integrated into the building’s architecture.
During the construction phase, our team worked in close coordination with the other specialties, carrying out the installation directly on-site and adapting to the actual pace of the project.
This responsiveness allowed us to make various adjustments on-site based on the needs identified during the work, ensuring the correct implementation of the system in each area of the building.
What solutions have we implemented?
We have implemented a smoke control barrier system designed to facilitate the proper evacuation of smoke in case of fire, providing reliability, safety, and control throughout the shopping center.
In total, 72 smoke control barriers have been installed, totaling more than 470 linear meters of protection. These barriers have been strategically integrated to guarantee the correct operation of the system in the different areas of the building.

Furthermore, as a key differentiator, the system incorporates a Master control panel with a screen, which allows for the centralized management of all zones and curtains, offering a comprehensive, real-time overview of the system. This solution facilitates simpler operation, greater control for the end user, and a faster and more effective response to any situation.
More than just supply: comprehensive support
This project reflects our way of working: involvement from the engineering phase to commissioning, providing technical solutions, adapting to each challenge, and supporting the client throughout the entire process.
At Tecnitex, we understand each project as a comprehensive solution, where the design, installation, and control of the system must meet the real requirements of the building, the construction, and its future operation.
We appreciate the trust placed in our team to be part of a project of this magnitude and remain committed to providing solutions that combine safety, technology, and efficiency in the field of passive fire protection and smoke control.
